日本とオーストラリアの若手作家8名6組が同時進行で展開していく滞在制作プロジェクトに加え、展覧会交換プログラムとして本展を開催します。
「都市のディオラマ」と題し、見えない日常の真相にかたちを授ける日豪6組のアーティストたち。日豪のアーティストたちがスタジオ共用を通してどのような共鳴を起こすのか。ご期待ください。
トーキョーワンダーサイトは2001年より「メイキング・サイト」をキーワードとして、若手作家への実験の場を提供しています。2006年11月にはTWS青山：クリエーター・イン・レジデンスを開始し、展覧会のみならず滞在制作をサポートしています。
今回、新たに展覧会の交換だけでなく、滞在制作というプロセスの交換も試みるという目的で、インスタレーション作品紹介を得意とするシドニーの ARTSPACE Visual Arts Centreとの連携を始めます。オーストラリア人作家3名と日本人作家3組からなる半年にわたる長期の滞在制作・展覧会の交換プログラムとなる第一弾として本展を開催します。
都市を構成するのは私たちひとりひとりです。そして、個々の思考や行動などはそれぞれに影響を与え合い、交差あるいは連鎖しながら都市をつくりあげていると言えるでしょう。それぞれから出てくる一本の線をたどっていくと、位相を超えて、ノンリニアに増殖しながら個の領域を拡張したり、狭めたりしながら都市の一部となり複雑な構造をつくりだしています。都市のノイズも、歪んだ構造さえも都市の風景そのものです。ときにはランドスケープそのものを再現し、現在私たちが日常的にインターネット等を使用するのと同じく、ときにはヴァーチャルサイトでの展開も進行します。東京とシドニーという都市と人との間を往き来しながら、各会場に複数のレイヤーが入り組んだ都市のディオラマを出現させることになります。
今回は日本のアーティストとオーストラリアのアーティストが、スタジオを共用して作品制作を行います。展覧会では、どのように共鳴し作品が展開されるのかご期待ください。
